What are Your Leadership Qualities?

July 4th, 2008

WORD COUNT: 398 Brief … Yet Powerful Words

TIME to GROW: * About 1 1/2 MINUTES *

Happy Fourth of July!

What a perfect day to celebrate your leadership qualities!

Imagine all of the advantages we enjoy today because of the vision, integrity and courage of our founding fathers.

Are your leadership traits supporting you or getting in your way?

If you’re having trouble changing a habit or manifesting an important goal, try looking at the leadership attributes you’re applying in your daily life. You may discover an immense  opportunity to break free of the barriers that have been holding you back from
the results you desire.

Here’s what I mean. I was recently speaking with a business owner who was stuck in some repetitive habits. She realized what required her attention, and even recognized the benefits of taking the next steps toward her financial goals. But she was avoiding the very things that would allow her to have the financial freedom she wanted. She had unconsciously decided not to move forward because this is just “who I am”.

She was right … you are who you think you are.

The leadership traits we adopt, whether we are aware of them or not, determine our capacity to change and grow.

Thus the importance of consciously choosing the characteristics that you want guiding you. This is what self-leadership is all about…making conscious choices.

What values, personal traits or characteristics do you admire most in a leader?

Do you most appreciate leaders who are:

- Honest or out of integrity
- Forward-looking or stuck in the present
- Competent or helpless
- Inspiring or indifferent
- Wise or foolish
- Fair or unjust
- Open-minded or opinionated
- Supportive or destructive
- Determined or unconcerned
- Courageous or fearful
- Loyal or false
- Direct or Evasive
- Imaginative or uncreative
- Caring or cold
- Organized or scattered
- Focused or aimless
- Dependable or unreliable
- Playful or serious
- Energetic or sluggish
- Appreciative or ungrateful

So given the qualities of your business or lifestyle experiences that you’d like to improve, which characteristics can you adopt or release to better align with who you want to be, and what you want to create?

There’s no contest, right or wrong answer. Your best choices are those that connect you to what you really want to experience.

Simply choose and then embrace the leadership qualities that will allow you to be, do or have what you truly desire.

Just follow your heart!

Your friend and partner in daily discovery,

Laura
