Have you ever felt disconnected or unclear about the next best direction to take in your life or business?
In the ebb and flow of living, activity can become routine and we have all experienced periods of detachment. This is when we feel as if we’re just going through the motions. We may feel uninspired, unmotivated and have a sense that something is missing.
These could be signs that you’re disconnected from purpose. If left unchecked, we can stay stuck for long periods … because as uncomfortable as “uninspired” feels, it may feel safer to you, than
the “shoot for the stars” dream, that’s been floating around in the back of your mind.
So how do you reconnect with purpose, move off autopilot and move boldly forward, full of positive expectancies?
Here’s an exercise you can do anytime to get back on track and reconnected with a purpose that truly inspires you.
I call this “The Shoot for the Stars 10-Minute Pick Me Up”
Write down your answers to these questions. Start with the first thought that comes to you. Then go beyond the obvious and try not to edit your responses. You’re the only one who will see this.
Keep asking each question until you get to the root of what feeds your spirit! Okay …take a deep breath, smile and proceed.
1) Why do you exist?
2) What do you contribute to others personally and professionally?
3) What must you accomplish in order to feel successful?
You are now reconnected with your core purpose. This is what drives you and gives your life meaning.
When you are clear and rooted in purpose, there is no mountain too tall or star too far away. For you know that you are adding value like only you can! Even small acts have significance.
As Ernest Holmes once said, “Who’s to say that the blossoming of a rose in the desert is of less importance than the building of an empire?”
