Tools for Successful Living: Spend A Day Alone

August 14th, 2008

Take time to Nurture Your Soul

WORD COUNT: 397 Short … Yet Tranquil Words

TIME to NURTURE YOUR SOUL: * About 1 1/2 MINUTES  *

When was the last time you went into solitude to nurture your Soul?

The time you spend alone in your car, or when you’re getting ready in the morning doesn’t count if your mind is on the radio, the traffic, or if you’re planning the day ahead.

When was the last time you gave yourself some much needed time to be alone with your thoughts, and with your Higher Self? We can only recharge and reconnect with that greater part of the Self, when we’re in stillness.

The importance of giving yourself time to be alone is an important and necessary part of spiritual growth and personal development. This time can help us identify the recurring thoughts and behaviors that are keeping us stuck and draining our energy.

If you can’t take a full day, consider a half day. If you don’t have an opportunity to be alone in your home, give yourself a mini-retreat on a beach, park or nature preserve.

Take some inspiring reading, water, nourishing food, a journal and a problem you’d like to resolve. Set the intention that this is your time, then give yourself this empowering gift.

Start your day with a walk in nature, breath in the air and release all worries, and “have-to’s. This is your time to be kind to yourself, release negative energy and replenish the Soul.

As you prepare for your mini-retreat, tell those who may try to reach you, that you are unavailable on this day. You won’t have access to email or voice mail. Then stick to your commitment to give yourself a much needed reprieve from always “being on”.

There’s great power in disconnecting from the hectic pace of everyday life, so you can spend some time to reconnect with your centered space.

Spend the day walking, meditating contemplating and journaling about anything you want to clarify and process. Don’t go into self-judgement. For that only adds to any self-imposed pressures, habits or thoughts you may want to clear. This is your time, so use it as you wish.

Then do something at the end of the day to celebrate your newfound peace. Perhaps a glass of champagne, a foot massage or listen to your favorite music. Revel in the joy and wisdom that will surely come as you reconnect with your divine nature.

Your friend and partner in creating centered spaces,
