To Be a Friend

WORD COUNT: 219 Tiny, Yet Fond Words
TIME to More Rewarding Connections: Less than 1 Minute
How would you describe a good friend? Is it someone who listens really well? Is it someone who lifts you up when you’re feeling down?
Is a good friend someone you trust with your deepest thoughts and secrets?
Is a good friend your biggest fan? Is it someone who offers you guidance when you ask for it, and a kind word when you stumble?
Of course a good friend, like us, will have faults and foibles. For that is part of our shared humanity. Yet we love our friends for who they are.
Emerson once wrote; “the only way to have a friend is to be one.”
So one of the most powerful and personally rewarding questions you could ever ask yourself is – what attributes do I value most in a friend … or partner… or spouse?
The answers are the qualities that you must emulate, if you want to truly experience them. For your outer world will always reflect your inner world, and that includes how you feel about your relationships.
And since friendship is an essential ingredient to a happy life, then knowing what attributes we cherish most in a friend, is ultimately the standard by which we must measure ourselves.
So what will it be? What treasured qualities will you personify in friendship to yourself and others?
Your amigo in empowered living,
