When your efforts fail to bring about a desired outcome, you may ask what did I do wrong?
But this question assumes that there is a specific formula, and if we always follow it, we’ll always be “successful”.
The problem with this assumption is that it can activate deep-seated beliefs that many people share, about being unworthy of their desires. This question also ignores the true measure of success.
For goals are so much more than a means to acquire a trinket, make money, or change conditions.
Goals serve a much higher purpose. Yes they give you direction, and it’s certainly fun to imagine them coming to life, but your goals are also spiritual tools to grow by. In this case, growth does not mean fixing something that’s broken, far from it.
For we are eternal beings, and so will always be compelled to explore and evolve. Growth simply means the natural progression of Self-discovery.
When we learn from the challenges that our goals can trigger, we release the old stories, and embrace more liberating perspectives. We discover a more enriching way to look at life and who we truly are! As we explore new experiences, we discover our intrinsic value as a soul in human clothes. As we align with what we want materially, it’s only natural that we deepen our spiritual experience as well.
For the material is spiritual. And so our inner world reflects our outer world.
And when we don’t allow ourselves to receive what we want, we look at what’s not working. And in this discovery process, we learn which perspectives don’t serve our desire to grow. We let go of the beliefs that no longer serve us, and embrace perspectives that allow us to live life fully, each in our own unique way.
In the end, perhaps the ultimate goal is to learn how to love ourselves?
And this may be the hardest lesson of all, for it can be so easy to get lost in self-criticism. But, you can’t find success by looking outside your “Self”. For it’s an inside job, isn’t it?
So, what do you want to be or do next?
Whatever your answer, make it your intention to move forward for the joy of doing it! Don’t worry about the reward. For the journey is its own reward. And if you encounter the unexpected, turn to curiosity and discovery, rather than self criticism. For the answer to what am I doing wrong … is NOTHING! Just embrace what you’ve learned, and move forward expecting the best!
You are perfectly capable of creating anything you desire. Your job, should you choose to accept it, is to remember that!
