“Life can only be understood backward, but it must be lived forward.”
~ Soren Kierkegaard
When we are caught in circumstances that we don’t like, it can be difficult to understand the cause, let alone the purpose behind the pain.
Yet when we reflect on the challenges of our past, the sequence of events that led us to where we are now, is obvious. From the backward perspective we can appreciate those experiences, because we’re able to understand the value in them.
But when we’re in the moment of an unwanted event, the “why” is not always clear to us. But if we can trust that there’s value in every experience, and be open to the wisdom the present moment holds, we can receive what we need.
It is then possible to take that wisdom and apply it, so we can live fully in the present, and move forward with faith that all is well.
