Real Prosperity

TIME to Lasting Affluence: About 90 Seconds
Prosperity isn’t found in a get-rich quick program, or even in a steady paycheck. Certainly, we need to take care of our basic needs, like putting food on the table and paying the mortgage. But today we have an opportunity to look beyond the obvious financial desires to discover what we’re really searching for.
I see people driving to work in expensive cars with beautiful accoutrements. Yet many of these folks don’t look happy. Instead, they look stressed and frazzled as they weave in and out of traffic, rushing past the joy of the present moment.
I’m not saying that we shouldn’t want nice things. What I am saying is that anytime we make “how we feel” dependent upon external circumstances or things, we can’t experience real happiness, or prosperity. If we believe that we’ll be happier when something materializes, then we’ve given away our personal power to gadgets and outer events.
Real prosperity is about appreciating what we have, and giving ourselves permission to enjoy what we’ve worked so hard to attain.
Yet many people in our culture seem to be in a race toward the next best thing. It’s as if they believe the answer to all of their wants and desires can be satisfied by acquiring “more stuff”. They’re caught in a trap, expecting to find happiness on the outside, instead of the inside where it resides.
So if you ever find yourself asking, “is this all there is”, congratulations! This is a turning point, and if followed, this question can lead you to even more meaning and purpose.
You are among the lucky ones. For you already know that you don’t have to delay happiness, or wait to appreciate your current level of prosperity until you acquire something else, or align with another goal.
You can choose to enjoy all of the wonderful gifts in your life right now, at this very moment!
