Mr. Magoo, Changing Lanes & Smooth Journeys
August 20th, 2009
WORD COUNT: 283 Tiny, Yet Easy Words
TIME to BE HAPPY: * Who’s Counting? *
Picture this: you’re driving in your car, you turn up the radio, life’s good. If there’s a car directly in front of you, you can choose to go with the flow of the traffic, read the bumper stickers, and enjoy an easy ride. If you’re on a multi-lane highway, you could change lanes, and drive smoothly around the cars in front of you.
The other option is to get mad at the car, or driver, who’s “in your way.” And who hasn’t witnessed someone racing frantically to get somewhere, tied up in knots, and maybe even passing along a “friendly gesture” to people in their general vicinity. They hit the gas, angry at the world. Yet… have you every noticed … that more often than not… the angry driver is in the lane next to you
when you reach the stoplight? Interesting, isn’t it? The angst didn’t really get them anywhere… faster.
Encountering perceived obstacles, is a lot like driving in traffic. You can choose to see unplanned events as interesting aspects of the journey, or you can get mad because they showed up. You can also change lanes, and you can go with the flow.
The key to arriving at your desired destination is to keep moving. Enjoy the rest stops and detours, but keep moving positively forward. Don’t try to move the car in front of you, it’s too heavy and besides, that’s one of the things that makes the drive interesting!
And there’s no need to worry about how the other drivers react to heavy traffic. They are following their own path.
But you can enjoy a smooth ride, great music, and funny billboards!
It really is about the journey, so have fun!
Your friend and partner in creating happy moments,
