Moving from Disappointment to “I Can Have This”

WORD COUNT: 706 Short, Yet Refreshing Words

TIME to FLOURISH: * About 8 Minutes! *

Anyone who’s ever had a desire for something better, which covers just about everyone on earth, has experienced disappointment. So that leaves us with some very interesting, and potentially empowering questions!

What’s behind the failure to realize a goal, and why does disappointment exist?

How can we move from disappointment to full-out, enthusiastic alignment with a goal or dream? Is that possible, and how would we do that?

So, let’s explore and see what we can discover!

IF WE CAN AGREE THAT:

1. We create our own experience/reality, and

2. We’re living in a dualistic world, then it follows that

3. We can’t really know success, if the possibility of failure didn’t also exist. and …
4. Disappointment couldn’t be felt, if we didn’t have an unmet desire. And if …

5. We always receive what we expect, and

6. Expectation = Desire + Belief, then the only way we could feel

7. Disappointment, is if our beliefs didn’t align with our desires.

– So the solution must rest in our beliefs. –

You could say that goal realization looks something like this:

Desire + Belief = Your Reality

The variable ingredients are desire… do you really want it… and belief… do you believe you can have it?

Sometimes our goals are borrowed, we picked them up somewhere, it seemed like a good idea, but we didn’t really want it on some level. But, if we’re  disappointed, it’s reasonable to assume we wanted some aspect of the goal. So, let’s consider the other variable.

Sometimes beliefs serve us well, because they lift us up toward our desires! But in the case of truly wanting something, and not allowing ourselves to have it… and who among us hasn’t done that…then this means there’s something active within us… that’s not aligned with our desired outcome.

We are either allowing ourselves to have what we want, or we are not. Which is good to know, because that means you have the power to change any outcome!

So consider a goal that’s not coming together for you, and ask yourself these questions.

~*~ What do I really want? ~*~
(Sometimes it’s easier to start with what you don’t want, and then flip that around to what you do want. )

~*~ Why do I want it? ~*~
In other words, I want this because I’ll feel/have/experience __________________________________________________.

This question helps you understand the underlying motivator, or the true desire behind your goal.

== This part is really important. ==
Success is about who we become as we align with our goals. So, we have to resonate, more often than not, with the desired feelings that inspired the goal, before we can receive the corresponding material expression of that goal!

So how do you align with the desired feelings? The Answer, believe or imagine that you can receive what you want! Because… what you imagine, believe or think, determines how you feel, which determines what you draw into your experience!

You may want to pause, and take a few deep breaths, and let all this settle in, because it’s BIG.

We often think the opposite scenario is true. That is, we have to align with the goal in order to believe it can happen, or in order to feel a certain way. For example, many people want more money because they want to feel more secure, worthy, or free. But if we feel insecure, unworthy or trapped, we can’t receive the very thing that we desire. Can you see how you can inadvertently  hold yourself apart from something you want?

Your thoughts determine how you feel, which determines what you can receive. In other words, our inner world must match your desired outer world.

So as much as we’d like to think that goal alignment is about doing more, it’s really about being more. When we’re expecting the best, the “doing” becomes the joyous part of the creative process that it’s meant to be!

~*~ So, try this to align with a goal or experience! ~*~
