Give Yourself Time to Grow
March 20th, 2008
WORD COUNT: 579 Short … Yet Empowering Words
TIME to GROW : * 2 MINUTES *
The other day, I was speaking with someone who kept talking about how busy he was. In fact he was so busy that he didn’t even have time to do the simple things, that take just a few moments, to improve his sense of balance and accomplishment.
Trust me when I tell you this isn’t a criticism. For I know all too well how easy it is to get pulled into “busyness”. Just ask my husband, he’ll tell you what’s it’s like living with a recovering Type A.
Here’s the problem with allowing yourself to be hypnotized into thinking that “busyness” = accomplishment.
* You’re working harder and accomplishing less.
* Your actions aren’t aligned with where you really want to go.
* You waste precious energy on stuff that really doesn’t matter.
* When you don’t give yourself time to observe, think, learn, plan and align, you are forever trapped in that state of “busyness”, with no improvement in sight.
As Albert Einstein once said, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing, and expecting a different result.”
We open ourselves to do things differently and get better results, when we give ourselves a little time every day, before jumping into email and frantic activity to: observe, think, learn, plan and align.
By doing so, you can achieve more while doing less, because you’re immersed in RIGHT ACTION. You can reprogram your habits by adopting better ones.
Start by committing to connect with something every day to: expand your potential, stay pointed to your greatest goals and dreams, learn tools and discover insights to help you grow and see things in a more empowering way.
This is what “The Daily Discovery Series” was designed to do in “little time bytes”. For small daily steps, applied consistently, lead to big results.
If you want to supercharge your ability to get more of the RIGHT THINGS done, adopt a daily routine of RIGHT ACTION.
Here’s How:
1. Breathe deeply, pause and relax. Give yourself time to tap into your innate peace and wisdom. 2 MINUTES
2. Now from this centered space, feed your spirit with constructive affirmations to set the foundation for the best day possible. 2 1/2 – 3 MINUTES (See the 3/19/08 Daily Discovery for help.)
3. Read “The Daily Discovery Series” or something else that inspires you, helps you grow, or see things in a constructive light. This is how we grow beyond our concept of what’s possible. This is how we shed old habits and expand our potential. 1 to 2 MINUTES
4. For a bigger boost, think about how the message may apply to you. What will you commit to do today to help yourself or others? What tools, talents and resources can you use? Is there a better way? 2 1/2 to 3 MINUTES
5. Review your TO DO LIST. Prioritize starting with the best thing you can accomplish today, given your most important goals and unique talents. Consider what you can delegate, outsource, move or delete. Be playfully present. 4 to 5 MINUTES.
TOTAL TIME: 12 to 15 Minutes
Try this for 30 days. Make it your own “Personal Success Routine“. Then see if at the end of the month, you don’t realize the value of investing just a few minutes each day, to save hours, months and
years of wasted energy and activity that keeps you stuck in the status quo and away from your greatest goals and dreams.
