When you consider all of the things that you do each day, how many of them do you actually enjoy?
What thoughts habitually enter your mind before you act?
Are you doing it, whatever “it” is, because:
- you want to get it off your list
- it’s expected
- you want something in return, or …
- because of the dreaded, I “have to” do this?
What about doing something for the sheer joy of doing it?
The perspective we bring to each thing we do, influences the spirit in which it’s offered and received.
Although an attitude toward one seemingly insignificant task, may appear meaningless at first glance, the perspective we choose does have a profound impact on the quality of our lives.
For what is a day, but a series of moments, and those moments can be filled with joy and a sense of accomplishment, or unnecessary drudgery and pain.
Yet people rarely pay attention to what they’re thinking as it relates to the task-at-hand. They’re usually too busy “just doing it”. But this is the seat of true power.
Within each moment you have the ability to choose how you feel. In so doing, you can elevate the quality of your journey, as well as the desired outcome.
Whether you’re talking to a customer, sharing ideas with a friend, or taking out the trash, all acts offer a choice, and an opportunity.
For you can decide to move forward simply for the sheer joy of it. In doing so, you embrace the opportunity to enrich your life and inspire others.
The other option is to move forward, without conscious intention, just going through the motions, to “get it done”.
Life’s treasures rest in those few precious seconds … before you dive into the next thing on your “To Do” list. So what will you choose to experience? Will you set the stage for adventure and fulfillment, as you fully express the greatest part of you?
Will you anticipate the best, meet new friends, see opportunities to make a difference everywhere, or instead … will you rush through life, so you can move steadily onward, to the next item on your list?
When life is lived on autopilot, we miss an important point. The point we miss when we get caught up in the frantic pace of mainstream consciousness is this – we can choose to thoroughly enjoy the journey.
This doesn’t mean we should avoid the stuff we don’t instinctively like to do. For the bills require payment and the mail must be delivered, right?
Yet transformative energy is available to you anytime, when you consciously align with empowering thoughts, rather than the life-numbing rhetoric of misaligned activity.
This is how we shed the human “doing” and fully embrace the human “being”!
So why will you make the call, write that email, attend the meeting, or do whatever is ahead of you this day?
The choice really is yours to make.
You have a mission, should you choose to accept it. Your assignment requires your one-of-a-kind gifts, and it asks you to thoroughly and completely enjoy your journey!
