Everything Matters, Yet Nothing Matters
February 20th, 2008Do you ever feel like your goals and dreams are a burden? They seem so heavy. You forget the excitement you experienced, when you first visualized your greatest hopes and desires. At some point, everything started to feel hard, stressful and serious. There isn’t enough time, money or resources, and your inner critic is working overtime.
Been there and done that. But then a trusted guide told me “Everything matters, yet nothing matters”.
At first the words felt good to hear. It was like letting the air out of a balloon, as the stress drifted away. The full meaning wasn’t immediately obvious. I still consider these magnificent words – “everything matters, yet nothing matters”.
What restrictive feelings or thoughts do you entertain that make your life harder? Are you ready to release them now, so you can enjoy more of your unique adventure?
For when you choose to enjoy more of the journey, you automatically put yourself in a position to harvest more of the gold that is planted around you.
If we allow ourselves to get stressed, by making a bigger deal out of things than they really are …. well, we can’t see the infinite opportunities or attract what we really want. For we are no longer connected with what motivated that big, audacious goal in the first place. Ouch!
When we’re stressed, it’s usually because we are focused on fear, lack or scarcity … on the things we DON’T WANT, instead of the stuff we REALLY DO WANT … self-confidence, abundance and prosperity.
So, everything matters. Yes, everything plays an important role in the cosmic puzzle we call life. Our beliefs, thoughts and feelings create our reality, and so, the quality of our lives.
Feeling stress is jut a signal that your thoughts are pointed in the wrong direction. So smile and let it go. Be thankful for the “Red Alert”. Then shift to feelings and thoughts that support your big, audacious dreams.
We can change anything at any time, just by shifting our perspective. So even though everything matters, no one thing really matters that much. What a relief!
For we can improve anything, by simply focusing on something better.
Until next time, be kind to yourself. Release thoughts that activate stress, and instead … play with your dreams.
Have fun. Enjoy your journey!

Hi Laura,
I came across your web page and really enjoyed reading your post. I caught my eye because the title of my nonfiction book (release date April 16) is “Everything Matters, Nothing Matters: For Women Who Dare to Live with Exquisite Calm, Euphoric Creativity and Divine Clarity.” Check out my book site by the same name for more musings on this subject. All the best, Gina
