To follow your divine guidance is to follow the wisdom of the heart. For your heart will never mislead you.

You may feel this to be true. Yet to honor the intellect, you may be curious about the science behind the spiritual stuff. So here are a few interesting tidbits about emotions, the heart and brain and how it all works together to help you create your reality.

The idea that we can think with our hearts is not just a metaphor as once believed.

Molecular biologists have now discovered that the heart is intricately linked to the emotional brain, which includes the hippocampus area where memory and learning take place.

True learning, as opposed to conditioning (which takes place in the older reptilian part of the brain) happens in the higher frontal lobes, the intellectual and  creative brain.

True learning, a prerequisite for growth and evolution, requires the positive and supportive emotions associated with the heart, especially feeling loved and supported.

On the other hand the old survival defenses of the reptilian brain are closely associated with the emotions of anxiety, fear and hostility. Growth is stunted in fear-producing environments.

Neurocardiologists now know that about 65% of the cells in the heart are neural cells, not muscle cells as once thought. These cells are identical to the neural cells in the brain and have the same kinds of neurotransmitters found in the brain.

The heart is also a giant electromagnetic generator responding to our emotional states. This electromagnetic field extends 8 to 12 feet from your body. Imagine the power that you are generating everyday!

Your emotions affect the electromagnetic spectrum of the heart. Nurturing emotions vibrate at higher frequencies and destructive emotions vibrate at lower frequencies.

Emotions and the words and images that symbolize them have been proven to affect matter.  Numerous studies in psychology, molecular biology and quantum physics have all drawn similar conclusions.

You may have heard about Masaru Emoto’s “The Hidden Messages in Water” that showed how positive emotions (conveyed by thought, words, images and prayer) resulted in the formation of beautiful crystals, where as “negative” emotions caused misshapen and irregular crystals. By the way the human body is  comprised of 65-70% water, so imagine how your thoughts and emotions affect
your physical well being!

The significance of these insights from so many different areas of study is profound. Taken together, they show that your emotions, imaginings and thoughts directly influence your reality, and that your heart has a central role to play.

In the end, the most important thing you can do to grow physically, emotionally, spiritually and financially … is to pay attention to the wisdom of the heart and to cultivate the emotional attributes associated with that wonderful part of the human body, namely: unconditional love, happiness, appreciation, joy, enthusiasm, knowledge and empowerment rather than fear, insecurity, guilt,
rage etc.

Your emotional responses to life’s circumstances affect everything, including what you can be, do or draw to you.

So you are a co-creator with an important choice. Will you choose to create your life consciously as your own unique work of art … or will you allow outer circumstances to dictate your reality?

Above all, it’s about choosing to enjoy the journey!
