When you let go of the past, you open up your future to boundless potential, and ….
your future begins today.
Refuse to dwell upon past mistakes, and do not become a prisoner of yesterday’s accomplishments.
Previous mistakes have no power over you, unless you give them your attention.
Yet the expert’s mind, one who relies on his past successes, will soon kill his creativity.
So look at your present opportunities, challenges and events from an empowering place, with the eyes of a child, as a beginner.
For the Zen Mind is the beginner’s Mind.
The beginner’s mind allows you to invite in fresh perspectives, new ideas, empowering attitudes, unhindered expectations, and creative ways to solve old problems.
The beginner’s mind allows you to discover and fully embrace new opportunities.
This doesn’t mean that we forget the wisdom we’ve gained through life experiences. It simply means – when we shed the confines of the past, we broaden our horizons, and reconnect with the unbridled enthusiasm, and wonder … we once felt when something was still new.
As we become hypnotized by the routine of our days, we lose inspiration and creative insights, because we continue to think in old ways.
So do something different today, no matter how small. Step off the familiar path.
Change your routine, look at your surroundings as if you’re seeing them for the first time, ask a different question, smile at a stranger, take a different route, eat breakfast for dinner, or wiggle your toes in the sand.
Just do something different, and commit to the wonder of this new day before you. For it holds so many possibilities, and is an adventure, just waiting to unfold as your original.
