Today marks the day of the longest solar eclipse of the century! Although it will not be visible in North America, it will be seen by our neighbors in Southeast Asia and the Pacific, in areas that include India, Nepal, China, Japan, Bangladesh, Bhutan and the Marshall Islands.

According to experts, the total solar eclipse will last about 6 1/2 minutes. The next “partial” solar eclipse will not occur until January 2010, and the next “total” solar eclipse is expected in July 2010.

As I read about this phenomena, I am reminded of the cyclical nature of growth, death and rebirth. In many respects we are reborn every day upon awakening. Like nature, there’s a natural ebb and flow in our own personal growth. Sometimes we experience rapid expansion. At other times we must slow down, and integrate what is needed for the next leg of our journey. At another time we need to rest, and at others periods, we need to evaluate what is no longer needed, and discard the old.

And now is a perfect time to clean out your old files, spiritually and materially, to make room for the new! For when we hang onto old information, stuff, and perspectives for too long, they clutter our reality, and that makes it hard to focus on emerging priorities.

As we clear away what is no longer needed, greater clarity, and renewed enthusiasm  emerge, and we are reborn!

If you find the urge to clear clutter in your home, office, or in your mind, open up time this week to discern what is no longer needed, and clear it away. Make room for the new and enjoy the magic of being alive at this magnificent time!
